Physical gold has 'advantages over other investments'

Chinese investors are rushing to Buy Gold to provide a safe haven from the crisis-ridden financial markets, Commodity Online reports.

The yellow metal has largely outperformed other assets since the start of the economic downturn and prices have increased by around 40 per cent since last October.

Now Mark Robinson, a Gold Bullion analyst in Dubai, has attempted to outline the reasons why physical gold is so appealing to investors during tough times.

He told the news provider: "Gold is a very solid asset. Buying physical gold does have advantages compared with other investments.

"Investments in gold-backed financial products and paper gold should be left up to the professionals."

Mr. Robinson's comments come after Michael Jansen, an analyst at JP Morgan, expressed his belief that gold prices are preparing for a major upward push.

"There is a very strong case to be made that the current rally in gold is potential pre-positioning ahead of a much larger move at some point in the future," he told the Financial Times.
