Detour reports progress at Ontario gold mine

Exploration and development company Detour Gold Corporation has unveiled positive results from its drilling program at the Detour Lake property in northern Ontario.

Phase one of the program saw the completion of 49,321 meters of drilling and phase two is now underway, with positive findings emerging from 38 new holes.

Drilling was carried out in the West Pit area and returned "excellent and consistent results". Significant new mineralization was found in this area. Encouraging results were also obtained from the Gap Zone and the Calcite Zone.

Phase two of the drilling program is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2008 and the company hopes to release a mineral resource update by the middle of the year.

The Detour Lake property covers 242 square kilometers of prospective ground. Following the completion of phase one drilling Detour Gold Corporation said it expects the site to produce some 7.8 million ounces of gold for the gold market.
