Nikkei: Powell Fed Best for Gold Since Burns

LONDON, 3 September 2025 − Comment from BullionVault features today in a report on the surging price of gold and silver in Japan's financial newspaper of record, the Nikkei.

Gold has risen more under current US Federal Reserve chair Jerome Powell than any Fed chief since Arthur Burns in the late 1970s, the Nikkei notes.

While that isn't down to Powell's own weakness, says Adrian Ash, research director at BullionVault, "what the gold price suggests is a weakening" of confidence in the Fed amid continued political interference.
