The Sunday Times: Online Specialist for Gold Investing

LONDON, 22 July 2018 – Britain's best-selling 'quality' paper, The Sunday Times today highlights BullionVault as a simple, low-cost way to invest in physical gold as "insurance" against a stockmarket drop.

"Bullion tends to benefit when fear displaces greed as the dominant emotion in markets," says award-winning columnist Ian Cowie, quoting analysis from BullionVault which shows how, since 1968, the Sterling price of gold has risen 96% of the time that the FTSE All-Share has fallen from 5 years earlier.

"Better still," says Cowie, "allocating just 10% of your portfolio to gold can insure the rest of it by providing diversification or a hedge."

Calling BullionVault "an online specialist for individual investors in precious metals", Cowie contrasts the company's low dealing and annual storage charges with the high cost and hassle of using a safe-deposit box at a bank, as well as with the legal complexity of exchange-traded trust funds backed by gold.

Ian Cowie: bullion for you? Sure, if you like, but I'm not giving up on shares just yet
