BBC Radio 5 Live: Safe Haven Gold for 2016

LONDON, 8 February 2016 – BullionVault head of research Adrian Ash was a guest this morning on BBC national radio's flagship investment show, Wake Up to Money.

Speaking to Wake Up to Money presenters Adam Parsons in Manchester and David Jones in the BBC's central London studios, Adrian said the big driver behind 2016's sharp gains so far was the drop in other asset prices, most notably the stockmarket, plus a growing loss of faith in central-bank policy worldwide.

"Gold does well other assets fall," he explained, "but it does very well when people lose confidence in central bankers – and that's so far the story for this year."

With UK-listed African miner Randgold Resources due to release full-year 2015 results before the start of Monday's stockmarket opening, Adrian also discussed last year's new record-high in global gold mining output – "the seventh on the run" – and why it's now set to fall.
