Sunday Times: Syrian Conflict Sees Investors Buy Gold
1/9/2013
LONDON, 1 September 2013 - The Syrian crisis has sparked a surge in oil and gold prices, says The Sunday Times, the UK's best-selling quality Sunday newspaper, quoting BullionVault's head of research Adrian Ash as an "expert".
"Investors scramble to adjust portfolios as threat of conflict looms," says the newspaper, adding that "Experts warned this was evidence of gold being sought as a hedge against wider market insecurity," before quoting Adrian's comments on the recent move.
However, "Although the Syrian situation is ominous," Adrian says, "[gold] prices tend to react only in times of extreme stress."
