Telegraph Blogs: Refreshing, Straight-Talking Gold Analysis

LONDON, 7 October 2011 - Analysis and comment from world-leading gold market online BullionVault is quoted at length today by The Daily Telegraph's personal finance editor, Ian Cowie, on his blog.

Calling it "straight-talking" and "refreshing", Cowie shares the view of Adrian Ash - BullionVault's head of research - with his online readers and 3,000 followers on Twitter, contrasting it with what he calls the "relentless enthusiasm of some gold bugs." Because "sharp setbacks in the gold price should remind [us] that gold is not a one-way bet."

"September?s drop has certainly hurt August?s buyers," says Adrian, "but you wouldn?t expect your insurer to pay out the moment your house catches fire. Gold?s defensive value pays out over time, not day-to-day."

?This latest phase of the crisis guarantees volatility in all markets, however, and anyone considering gold today must understand that it?s physically secure but financially exposed to very sharp price swings.?
