MyFinances.co.uk: How to profit from investing in gold

LONDON, 4 February 2011 - Price-comparison and consumer-news site MyFinances.co.uk today features BullionVault - the UK's No.1 gold-ownership provider - in a report on how to profit from investing in gold.

"In these uncertain times, gold may be one of the few asset classes with the potential to appreciate still further," reckons Paul Duncombe, a fund manager at City asset-managers Schroders.

Reviewing the range of options open today, "If investing in gold shares or unit trusts sounds a little complex," says MyFinance.co.uk, "there's nothing like having your own piece of gold bullion to feel wealthy, and it's surprisingly easy to do.

"Companies such as BullionVault, a secure gold and silver exchange, allow private investors to buy and sell professional-grade bullion online. The company will then store your physical property in vaults in London, New York and Zurich.

"You can buy as little as one gram, which is currently worth £26.50, but the investment becomes more cost-efficient if your holding reaches £1,000 or more."

Interviewing several City analysts and fund managers, MyFinances.co.uk also speaks to a long-standing BullionVault customer who first began investing in gold in 2006 via "Exchange Traded" funds backed by the value of metal held in trust.

Amid the financial crisis, however, "He became nervous about this method of investing...and switched to investing in BullionVault because he liked the structure [and] the fact that it could be run online."

With perhaps 20% of his net worth in gold bullion, "He also liked the liquidity of this method, in other words the way gold could be bought and sold easily" using BullionVault's live market online.

"I receive monthly statements, which means you can park your money there and forget it about it but you get reminded about it on a monthly basis. It's a super arrangement. "
