When considering the gold price please bear in mind the effect of currency movements.
By widely held convention most people think of the gold price in terms of US Dollars. But if you only look at the gold price in that currency you will not be able to tell if a big move up in the gold price is caused by the appreciation of the gold price, or by a falling dollar.
Showing the gold price in several currencies will give you a better indication of what is moving more - gold or just that currency.
